I am a third generation injection molder. My entire career has been in Engineering and Project Management for captive and custom molders. My forte' is reviewing part and mold designs to minimize the time to get into production and reduce problems staying in production. I detect potential molding issues, both short term and long term before they occur, and specify solutions to correct them - over 1,500 of them.
In 1936, my grandfather was a partner of the Columbia Protectosite Co., Inc. in Carlstadt, New Jersey. They molded numerous items, but made their mark with sunglasses, goggles, combs and other items for the war effort using over 50 Reed-Prentice molding machines.
My father started the REL Corporation in 1949 in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. In the early years REL focused on the design, production and marketing of its own product line of toys. Later, they concentrated on custom molded products, such as point-of-purchase displays for Speidel USA, cosmetic packaging for Faberge’ and sporting goods for AMF-Whitely.
The company continued to grow and conceived numerous inventions, such as 16mm shipping containers for Plastic Reel Corporation of America and diaphramatic valves for dispensing liquids, such as "Bag-In-A-Box" wine.
Upon graduating with a BSIE degree from Northeastern University, I worked for RELCOR, Inc., a newly formed International Consulting Corporation in West Palm Beach, Florida. We performed C-Flow analyses, creative part designs, brokered molds for clients, set-up new molding facilities and developed a number of new inventions; one of which led to establishing another wholly owned molding facility in 1989 to produce tamper evident cargo container seals.
In 1994, I became the VP of Engineering for Topcraft Precision Molders, a custom injection molder in Warminster, Pennsylvania. Topcraft had 42 machines and in-house mold building capabilities. They molded parts for a great number of industries, including medical, automotive, electronic, agricultural, housewares, etc.
In 1999, I became the VP of Engineering for LMT-Mercer Group Inc., a proprietary injection molder in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. LMT is the leader in PVC fence, deck and railing accessory industry, and is an innovative and progressive molder and mold maker.
